WELCOME BACK
Welcome to the 2010-11 school year. At this time we have 895 students and 8 new faculty members. All of our teachers are highly qualified in their teaching area. We are looking forward to a great school year. Parent/Teacher conferences may be set up with the Counseling Office by calling 261-3804. We look forward to working with your child and together we can do great things!
CARPOOL INFO
Parents who bring and/or pick up their child from school may not use the driveway until after the school buses have finished loading/unloading. Students may not be dropped off before 6:50 A.M.
PARENT COMMAND CENTER
Please register with the Parent Command Center to access your child’s attendance, grades, discipline, etc. Forms are available in the Attendance Office. Forms must be returned in order for your account to be activated.

Please refer to the CMS website at www.centralcss.org for up-to-date information on what’s going on at CMS. You can find the school calendar, early dismissal dates and times, athletic schedules and PTO news, library and counseling news, a cafeteria menu, club information, etc. Lunch/Breakfast may be paid online.
HOMEROOM FEE
All students are asked to pay an activity fee of $20.00. Part of this fee covers the student’s homework notebook and their first student identification badge. This fee must be paid in the student’s homeroom class. Please make sure to note your child’s name on any check(s) that is made payable to CMS.
PTO NEWS
Students may purchase sweatshirts and spirit shirts from PTO or the Beta Club. Forms are available at school. Sweatshirts are $20 and spirit t-shirts are $12.00. Also, PTO dues are $5.00. Please fill out the PTO membership form and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher.
ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
Attendance procedures have changed. Please refer to your child’s student handbook (pages 14-17) or the attendance handout that was given to your child in homeroom.
LABOR DAY HOLIDAY
Monday, September 6th will be a school holiday. There will be NO SCHOOL.
FLU VACCINE
We will be offering the seasonal flu vaccine to students this year. The vaccine will be given to students at no cost. A consent form will be sent home with your child after Labor Day and need to be completed and returned to school by September 15th.
EXPLORE TEST
The EXPLORE test will be given on Wednesday, September 22nd. The EXPLORE program is designed to help 8th graders explore a broad range of options for their future. It prepares students not only for their high school coursework, but for their post-high school choices as well.
