Summer Reading 2023

Here are some important details about Summer Reading at CMS! Please check out the linked files (Each grade level has their own link!) for specifics on the projects that go along with the reading. Each grade level has one required text that should be read by ALL students. The second text is also required, but students may choose from a list of options. 

6th Grade:

  • Required Text: Wonder by R.J. Palacio
  • Choice of One (Required): Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick, Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling, Restart by Gordon Korman, Guts: The True Stories Behind Hatchet and the Brian Books by Gary Paulsen OR The Canyon's Edge by Dusti Bowling

7th Grade:

  • Required Text: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  • Choice of One (Required): Maze Runner by James Dashner, Uglies by Scott Westerfield, Divergent by Veronica Roth, City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau OR Matched by Allie Condy

8th Grade:

English I:
